It's been... a long long time
Happy 2010 everyone… or shall I say, happy ‘the future’
It’s been aaaaaaages since I last updated. That’s not to say I’ve fallen out of love with the local music scene at ALL, and that’s certainly not to say that I don’t care anymore. I’ve just been busy and distracted from the online world in general, and life has been a bit crazy.

Halloween show in Vancouver w/ Incura and Mass...
I have to be honest, I’m still recovering from Halloween weekend. It was -the- best Halloween I’ve ever had, mainly because it was on a Friday, I was in Vancouver, and I was seeing two bands that I absolutely adore and believe in on the same night… in one of my favorite Venues I’ve ever been in (The Bourbon).
Serious good times were had.
This was not my first time...

Conglomeration of Reviews
Hey guys! Yeah yeah, busy busy, excuses excuses! But honestly, I’ve had little to no time for blogging, and that sucks because I love it! I’ve been plotting and planning Concrete Sky’s first all ages show in Courtenay with my best friend and business cohort Mishel. October 17th marks our first show ever, and we are SUPER EXCITED. We’re hitting Courtenay with four amazing...

UPDATES ABOUND
Hello internets!! I am super sorry for the lack of updates, I’ve been busy going to shows and working on building an epic career for myself in the promotion business. So far, the outlook on that is a good one, and this baby needs nurturing! Concrete Sky Promotions is here to stay!
Anyways, I have some shows to review, and I MUST write a review of West Coast Music Fest. That shit was EPIC...

Naniamo at the Cambie w/ The Perfect Trend and...
Last night my lovely and beautiful friend Mishel and I took a speedy drive to Naniamo and got there just in time to catch The Perfect Trend and Melody Unwinding bring the Cambie down and melt some serious faces with sweet guitar riffs and crazy energy…. ohh, and epic light shows.
As always, The Perfect Trend delivered and entertained everyone. It was a ‘home show’ for them, so...
Lantzville Legion w/ On Call Heroes, Ninjaspy,...
EPIC SHOW.
Seriously? This show was one of the best I’ve been to yet! Candlefish did a great job putting this show together, and the bands were fan-freaking-tastic! I knew it was going to be great, but it was even better than I thought it was going to be.
It was my first time seeing most of the bands, save for The Perfect Trend and Mass Undergoe who I’ve seen play once before. On...
Burnside Campus Gym - Conversation Vs. Theset (w/...
JUST got home from this ripper of a weekend. I haven’t missed a show by Conversation since March 15th (on the Island) yet, and I certainly wasn’t going to miss this one. There was a lot of hype surrounding this show because Conversation and Theset are two of the more well known bands in Victoria. I’ve seen Theset once, so I was pretty stoked to see them again. And I was even...
Lantzville Hall w/ Everyone Everywhere, My Broken...
I saw this show on July 28th… I know, I know, late response!! I’ve been super busy, and just spent the weekend in Victoria to see the “Theset Vs. Conversation” show (which will go in another post). However, let me say? This here Lantzville show was fantastic. Why? Partly due to the fact I absolutely can not get enough of seeing My Broken Hero live, and also, I’ve...

Smart Bomb/Irreverents - The Cambie, Naniamo
I literally just got home from seeing Smart Bomb and the Irreverents play a wicked show at the Cambie in Naniamo. I’m so tired that my eyeballs are falling out, but it was so good to see both of these bands again. I’m also too tired to write anything epic as a review, but I will….
Aside from a bit of an annoyance outside the bar with some rude drunken dudes, it was a great...
Along Way Home →
Along Way Home is a rock/pop punk band that started in Courtenay, BC. The band has five extremely talented members, and their sound is contagious. They are a touring band, and work hard promoting themselves and playing shows in Canada and even the United States. This band is getting quite well known, but if you haven’t heard of them before I highly HIGHLY reccomend them. They are amazing...

August is going to be crazy. And it's only just...
So, August is soon approaching, and it is going to be one hell of a fun month! I am currently looking for a magical being to grant me three wishes (Money, Money, Money) so that I can better afford this crazy month, but I’ll manage somehow!
So far, these are the shows I plan to attend. The list keeps growing.
- July 25th in Courtenay: Irreverents + Smart Bomb at Lucky (so not calling it...
Chemanius show w/ Along Way Home & My Broken Hero
My friends and I drove to Chemanius yesterday, which is about a two hour drive from home, to see My Broken Hero and Along Way Home. It was held in a fire hall and not that many people came. That sucks for the bands, but we never mind if there is a small turnout because then it always feels a bit more intimate. Actually, it felt a bit like being at band practice :)
Despite the small turnout,...
Courtenay Millenium Park w/ My Broken Hero
My Broken Hero played in Courtenay yesterday in a gazebo down at the park. This was the first outdoor show I’ve seen with any of the Island bands, and it was actually quite refreshing with the nice breeze/sporadic hurricane force winds.
Now, I’m a huge fan of this band. I’m not going to go in to the details of why in this post as I’m planning on doing a post strictly...
Naniamo Show w/Conversation and Fall In Archaea
Hello my lovely internet viewers/stalkers/spectators/friends!
Last Saturday I drove down to Naniamo and went to Fall in Archaea’s CD release show in Lantzville. Lucky for me, and everyone else attending, Conversation was asked to play because another band dropped out at the last minute. Anyone who knows me knows I don’t miss Conversation’s Island shows, so this was such an...
Fall in Archaea - Band from Victoria, BC →
Fall in Archaea is a harcore/rock band from Victoria, BC. They pack quite the punch with their songs, and make YOU want to punch faces during a live show. You won’t actually punch someone in the face (intentionally) mind you, but they will certainly tap in to your emotions with their music.
(I’ve seen them play a couple of times, and I plan on seeing them again very soon! They were...

Casey Bennett Photography →
Casey Bennett is not in a band, no, but he is an amazing photographer (SEE: Genius) from Victoria, BC who spends a lot of his time and effort trying to capure the essence of the bands he goes to shoot. And he does.. he does.
If you love photography, go check out his work. His action shots are as wonderful as the photo shoots he stages with the bands. Pay him a visit!

Summer Showtime Fun
Summer is uppon us (well for some, for us it’s a bit wet and cold still…) and this means SHOWS. I’m certainly stoked due to the fact that a lot of the bands I love are going to be putting on shows, which also means I will get to be exposed to other bands I have yet to see play live. All ager shows, especially, are a great way to get exposed to new music, and I’m excited.

Mass Undergoe - Band from Vancouver, BC →
Mass Undergoe (yes, with an E) is an extremely talented band from Vancouver, BC. They have a very marketable sound, and they bring a lot of energy and emotion to the table… not to mention their songs are catchy as hell!
I discovered them when they added me to their friends on Myspace, and I -always- check out bands when that happens. When I first heard their songs, I knew instantly that I...
Kincaide - Band from Victoria, BC →
Kincaide is another band from the beautiful city of Victoria, BC. They are a heavy yet ear seducing combination of instrumentals and vocals that range from screams to soft melodic tones. To describe them with total precision would be a difficult task, so you should probably just click the link and hear them for yourself.
(If you like Alexisonfire, you will probably love Kincaide)
I saw these...
Conversation - Band from Victoria, BC →
This is a band from Victoria BC that I love and adore. They are all great guys and awesome musicians. Do check them out, and if you like them even half as much as I do, add them, comment them, and buy their CD so they can eat!
I first saw these guys on March 15th, 2008 at an all ager in Naniamo, BC. I went to see another band, origionally, but as soon as these guys started to play I threw up...
Oh no... a new obsession perhaps?
So, my friend Casey has one of these things and I decided it would be a cool place to post updates from shows I’ve been to, and my thoughts on them and such. Basically, this would be a good dumping ground for my music obsession.
Stay tuned =)
